Typeface Design
This is the creation of an original typeface for my Typographic Aesthetics class which was inspired by the tourist town of Jiufen located in Taiwan. This project included the creation of different images that would be placed on a website to promote the typeface itself. I also created a video that would be on the website as well.
Process
The creation of this typeface started off with sketching different iterations of certain letters to see what opportunities there were. These sketches were then transferred into Illustrator where they were digitized, I would then use parts of certain letters and mix them with parts of other letters to create the whole alphabet. I also sketched different concepts for the images that would be used to promote the typeface on a possible website, in the end I went with a concept that used images of plants overtaking manmade structures with phrases typed out using the Overgrown typeface combined in the environments.
